The Kia Soul SX gets some extra turbo oomph for Paris

The Kia Soul SX benefits from a new mill from the Hyundai Veloster Turbo.

Kia Soul is undoubtedly a popular model for the Korean automaker. Due to the global reach of the car, Kia sought to update the latest version of Soul for display at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

Kia Soul is not just a hot topic here in the United States. This is elsewhere in Asian and European markets. We add that Kia is in the process of diversifying the Soul line so that it can serve a wider range of customers who are looking for different requirements.

What is it?

The latest Kia Soul is undergoing some mid-cycle changes to improve the package. The soul presented in Paris also benefits from some power and transmission improvements. The exterior and interior design have been revised to offer a more sporty and upscale appearance. Equipment and packaging are also slightly tweaked to add more equipment, larger wheels, contrast stitching and more.

But the biggest change is the addition of a new, more powerful turbocharged engine that adds a little extra weight and, hopefully, a little more soul.

What’s the most important thing to know about the new Kia Soul?

The biggest change is the release of the new turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine shot directly from the Hyundai Veloster Turbo. This new mill is equipped with a Soul Turbo, obviously providing 201 horsepower. This is a significant blow compared to the previous 4-liter 4-liter engine of the previous model, which has a power deficit of almost 37 horses.
